My Morning Jacket are getting in on the festive spirit by releasing a special Christmas-themed iTunes session as an EP, available from the digital retailer today.
The EP features re-workings of Christmas standards “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” and two re-workings of recent album Circuital’s “Wonderful (The Way I Feel).” There’s also a brand new song here, “Welcome Home,” said to “compliment the warmth and sincerity of the Christmas classics.”
The EP was recorded in one 14-hour session while the band toured Amsterdam, and much like on Circuital, each track was recorded live as a one-take performance.
Next week, the band will also be releasing the limited 7″ with “Friends Again” as the A-side and a remix of “Outta My System” on the B-side. It’s only available in limited stores, so check with your friendly neighbourhood shops to see if they’ll have it.
Grab the new EP and/or free single “When the Bells Start Ringing” over at iTunes now.
