Does this make you feel old? That bands you listened to in high school, and who are still (mostly) active now lead the inductees for the dinosaur Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

GNR, the Beasties, and the Chili Peppers are just some of the class of 2012, though; other inductees include psych-rocker Donovan, the Small Faces, and then mostly people you probably don’t know, like producers Glyn Johns, Tom Dowd, and Cosimo Matassa, singer-songwriter Laura Nyro, and TV guy Don Kirshner.

Of course the induction of GNR opens the question of a weird and tense original line up reunion, which would be a big-ticket Axl vs. Slash spectacle for sure.

Notably missing from the nominee phase? Joan freaking Jett. Not that the Rock Hall of Fame really matters, but like, come on, guys.

The ceremony will be held April 14 at Cleveland’s Public Hall. It will be broadcast on HBO in early May. [via Rolling Stone]
