After releasing a couple of singles/EPs, City Route 85 and Provincial Road 222, Weakerthans frontman John K. Samson is set to release his full-length solo debut.
Provincial will be released January 24 via Epitaph/Anti- Records, and will cover much of the same regional ground as Samson’s previous releases: his home of Manitoba. “Provincial travels four routes woven into the prairie landscape of Manitoba, the Canadian province where Samson lives,” Anti- says. “It finds familiar landmarks and forgotten ones; it mines the precise and particular.”
Alongside a handful of new tracks, the album will feature newly recorded versions of songs from Samson’s previous two EPs. You can watch a trailer for the album above.
