Google finally announced its long-rumoured new digital music service, and by the sounds of it, with a similar model and price point, they’re aiming straight for iTunes’ pockets.

Google Music is currently only available in the U.S. as they complete negotiations with labels for other territories. So far, the label roster includes most of the major players, with the exception of Warner.

Much like iTunes, Google will offer songs for prices in the range of .69 cents, to .99 cents and $1.29. Another similiarity is providing exclusive content; Google Music is so far offering exclusives from the Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Busta Rhymes, Shakira, Pearl Jam and the Dave Matthews Band.

This week, Apple also launched its iTunes Match service (also US-only for now), allowing iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch users to download music they already own in their music collection to one of those devices. [via The Guardian]
