For the first time since the very early 80s, two of the founding members of Depeche Mode will reunite to record new music together.

Under the name VCMG, Vince Clarke and Martin Gore will release an EP of remixes, Spock, on December 13, while their yet-untitled full-length is expected in early 2012.

“Out of the blue I got an email from Vince just saying, ‘I’m interested in making a techno album. Are you interested in collaborating?'” said Gore in a press release.

Gore became Depeche Mode’s principal songwriter after Clarke left the band shortly after their formed in 1980. Clarke of course would eventually go on to co-found Erasure. The two had not worked together since Clarke’s departure. [via Rolling Stone]
