Okay, so the rumoured Occupy Wall Street Radiohead performances obviously never happened, but last night something just as cool went off instead: Jeff Mangum showed up and played a bunch of songs. Actual songs!

Regardless of how you feel about the protests, or whether you feel anything at all, you’ve got to admit this is pretty cool. The Neutral Milk Hotel singer came out of nowhere to play a thirty minute set featuring some of his old band’s best songs (and a Minutemen cover), the best part being that that the entire thing was streamed live on GlobalRevolution’s Livestream channel (which promises ongoing coverage of the protests along with a bunch of other pissy jibber-jabber about passing out flyers and giving back or something).

But yo! Forget politics for a second and watch Jeff Mangum’s set up top. [via Consequence of Sound]
