Hot on the heels of their The Animation of Entomology EP, released earlier this month, Blotted Science has released a video for the song “Cretaceous Chasm,” which is worth noting because the song was written as a re-scoring of a scene from King Kong. If this is all sounds familiar, it might be because we first told you about Blotted Science’s guitarist Ron Jarzombek back in April. He’s perhaps most famous for re-scoring an entire scene from Bambi (dialogue included) with his old band Spastic Ink.

This is much the same: a fair bit heavier, definitely more listenable but still a wildly technical experiment in heavy metal mastery. Non-believers should wait for gunfire to see just how well it all syncs up, and for the ultra sceptical instructions on how to sync the song up with the film are provided:

For those of you who want to view the video to match up to ‘Cretaceous Chasm’ on big screen at home, here’s how to sync it up: Pull up the DVD ‘King Kong’ (2005) and when the time code hits 1:53:32, start the Blotted Science recording of ‘Cretaceous Chasm’. You’ll know that it is perfectly synced if when the worm guy’s face appears (at 1:53:36), it is EXACTLY when the heavy Low C note is hit.

The Animation of Entomology EP is an expansion of Jarzombek’s Bambi experiment, with each song written to sync up with a scene from a movie of Jarzombek’s choosing.
