Jay-Z and Kanye West sued over "Watch the Throne" sample

It’s on, everyone. After allegedly using part of Syl Johnson’s song, “Different Strokes” without permission for their Watch the Throne track, “The Joy,” Kanye and Jay-Z are being sued.

Saying the duo deprived him of credit or royalties, Johnson filed a lawsuit Friday that claims Yeezy previously asked him to use the song a spot on my My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, but was unable to get permission by the time of the record’s release, so that specific act signifies “knowing and willful misappropriation.”
