The National's Matt Berninger pays two fans $1,000 for popping an annoying balloon that was floating around a festival

According to a recent post on the National‘s website, singer Matt Berninger is a man of his word, after he mailed a cheque to some rather unconventional heroes.

At last year’s ACL festival, a big annoying balloon was irritating Berninger, and he joked that he would give $1000 to whoever popped it. Six months after fans Donald and Carolyn mailed the band the carnage of the balloon they took down, a cheque arrived in the mail. Amazing.
