Since we’ll be kicking around Pop Montreal this week, we’re talking to some of our favourite bands playing the festival.

Gearing up to release their debut EP A Good Woman Is Hard To Find, Los Angeles’ PAPA just kicked off their North American tour alongside Girls – mostly because PAPA frontman Darren Weiss is their drummer. However, this exuberant three-piece would likely have already caught the attention of their peers and listeners, especially since they’ve successfully taken the sun-drenched California sound and added substance and heart.

You can catch PAPA open for Girls on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Théâtre Corona.

AUX: What about Pop Montreal (or Montreal in general) are you most excited about?

PAPA: We’re excited to have an excuse to go looking for antiques and eat delicious bagels.

What bands are you determined to see during the festival?

P: Redd Kross, the Rain Coats and Andrew WK.

Why should people come see your show over anyone else’s?

P: Because we’ve got attitude.

Give us some tips for conquering/surviving the 5-day festival.

P: Go see PAPA and keep seeing PAPA and don’t stop seeing PAPA PAPA PAPA PAPA.

Famous last words?

P: A good woman’s hard to find . . . LIFE IS DUDES.
