Since we’ll be kicking around Pop Montreal this week, we’re talking to some of our favourite bands playing the festival.

Despite honing a legacy based on being undefinable, Grimes has earned more than a modest pop music following thanks to her soft voice and stirring instrumentals. Using her recent full-length, Geidi Primes, to capture the hearts of an eager North American fanbase, her balance between the chilling and the vulnerable creates an indelible sound that permeates both hearts and minds.

You can catch her at Mission Santa Cruz :: Salle STM (60 Rachel West) at 11 p.m. tonight.

AUX: What about Pop Montreal (or Montreal in general) are you most excited about?

Grimes: Seeing friends, going to shows, working in that mural team that Tyler Rauman is coordinating.

What bands are you determined to see during the festival?

G: Aarabmusik, DJ Huge Unit.

Why should people come see your show over anyone else’s?

G: ‘Cuz it’s my last ever show playing this material, moving onto the next album after this!

Give us some tips for conquering/surviving the 5-day festival:

G: Eat oatmeal regularly, walk a lot, go to cool after parties.

Famous last words?

G: There are as many paths for forging your existence as there are ghosts in the universe.
