The end is near! In only a few short hours, Pop Montreal will come to a close, and you’ll be left only with memories of busting moves. So pat yourself on the back, you’ve made it. And instead of curling up in the fetal position and waxing poetic about the past, make one last pot of coffee, drink it up, and end your festival with the following shows.

PAPA
Fronted by Girls‘ drummer Darren Weiss, PAPA provides an alternative to indie-pop’s typically lighthearted sound, combining the accessibility of the west coast with a depth that breaks free from Californian stereotypes. Just don’t blame them when you consider abandoning Canada for America’s sunny shores.

Théâtre Corona, 2490 Rue Notre Dame Ouest, 7:30 p.m.

GIRLS
Maybe you’re excited for fall, and by no means want to be reminded that only a few short days ago we were basking in the season’s warming glow. But if you’re like 99% of the population, regardless of season, you’ll embrace the sun-drenched sounds of the California rock and/or rollers, who just released their chart-making sophomore, Father, Son, Holy Ghost. Amen indeed, dudes.

Théâtre Corona, 2490 Rue Notre Dame Ouest, 9 p.m.

JIM WARD
We all remember At the Drive-In, so instead of playing your old albums on repeat, witness the evolution of rocker Jim Ward and his heartfelt approach to music-making. True, alt-country may be off-putting to some, but if you’re in the market for diversity, it’s time to appreciate what else this Texas native has to offer.

Cagibi, 5490 St-Laurent, 11 p.m.

THE RAINCOATS
Maybe late ’70s post-punk isn’t your thing, and if it’s not, who cares because HELLO, The Raincoats are playing. Having been one small (large) step for music and one giant leap for woman-kind, the British trio taught musicians and listeners everywhere that regardless of gender, you can rock the fuck out and make no apologies. (“You know who The Raincoats are.” – “Why, don’t you?”)

Cabaret du Mille End :: Salle Ubisoft, 5240 Avenue du Parc, 11:30 p.m.
