You’ve had a chance to sleep in and your work week is done, so there’s no excuse not to paint the town red for the second last night of Pop Montreal. So let your hair down (and if it’s short, just put on a hat, and then take it off), and try to be in approximately six thousand places at once.

PLANTS AND ANIMALS
You know what’s better than an after-dinner drink? An after-dinner drink followed by a performance by Plants and Animals. So as the sun sets, the moon rises, and you begin to panic that there’s only one night of the festival left after this, treat yourself to tracks off of the recently released La La Land, and re-define your meaning of “alternative prog-rock.”

Breakglass Studios, 7250 Clark, 6 p.m.

LAURA MARLING
It’s hard when young artists are more articulate than most of us could ever hope to be, so if you feel like combining the art of storytelling with the feeling of inadequacy, visit the world of Laura Marling as she submerges her audience in classic English folk music that drips with both melancholy and loveliness. Because sometimes you can’t have one without the other.

Théâtre Corona, 2490 Rue Notre Dame Ouest, 10 p.m.

YUCK
The only way to follow-up a British act is to see another British act, so to do justice to 2011’s UK darlings, channel your inner ’90s lovechild and catch the London-based five-piece who could’ve easily impressed the cast of Reality Bites with their self-titled debut. The days of Cajun Dance Party (of which two band members were once in) have never seemed so far away.

Cabaret du Mile-End :: Salle Ubisoft, 5240 Avenue du Parc, 11:30 p.m.

ANDREW W.K.
Did you know that the English translation for “Pop Montreal” is “party hard”? Okay, maybe it’s not, but WHO CARES because if you don’t go for it Saturday, you’re doing it (everything) wrong. So grab your white t-shirt, your white pants, and your zest for life, because as Andrew W.K. has taught us, the time to party is now.

Maison des Arts de Laval, 1395 boulevard de la Concorde Ouest, 12 a.m.

TRUST
But there’s more than one way to party. If you feel like grooving out to the next big thing, get to know the Toronto-based duo who’ve already wooed the masses through what feels like just a few tracks and many more shows. Having just released their long-awaited 12″, Bulbform, earlier this week, we’re willing to bet that in the midst of that whirlwind, their insatiable brand of electro-pop will give you more than one excuse to shake a tail feather.

Casa del Popolo, 4873 St-Laurent, 12 a.m.

THE DARCYS
It’s been a red-letter week for the dynamic Toronto four-piece, so to celebrate their recent addition to the Arts and Crafts roster, join them in celebrating their upcoming full-length debut (due out on October 25). Ten points awarded if you’ve been a fan since the beginning, and an extra million if you leave sweatier than when you arrived.
