Coheed and Cambria’s in the midst of trying to bounce back from losing long-time bassist Michael Todd after he robbed a pharmacy with a fake bomb, and “Deranged,” written and recorded for the soundtrack to the upcoming Arkham City Batman video game, might be their first step towards moving on.

Claudio Sanchez, the band’s poofy haired front-man, had this to say about the song:

“I write in a very conceptual format with the stories that surround Coheed and Cambria, but Batman has a much larger, defined history and rules that go along with it. My goal was to find universal themes from Batman’s existing history to help give the lyrics legs and dimension so that the song could live within that world.”

Listen to “Deranged” below. It’s no “Kiss From A Rose,” but it’s not bad. Batman: Arkham City is out October 18th on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and the soundtrack will be available free to anyone who purchases the Collector’s Edition of the game. [via IGN]
