Best Coast were an unknown band before releasing their full-length Crazy For You in 2010, but since, they’ve become one of the biggest and most acclaimed current indie bands.

The band have been touring pretty much non-stop since, and singer Bethany Cosentino recently told Rolling Stone that she’s totally exhausted. “I’ve played all of these songs a hundred million times,” she says, adding that not only is she ready for a break from the road, but to use that time to record a new album.

“I feel like I’m a better singer, songwriter and guitar player than when we cut the first album…I want to sing my ass off. I really want to make songs where my voice is kind of the focal point of the song, so I’m trying to write a lot of ballads and things like that.”

The band will hunker down in L.A. without any confirmed producer, though Cosentino says she has “some ridiculous people in mind,” and that by this time next year, a new Best Coast album will have already been out for some time.
