In this age of nostalgia and band reunions, you could expect just about any band to get back together for a show or tour to make some quick bucks. One band that’s been absent has been The Replacements, so Rolling Stone went after them to see if they’d consider a reunion, and it turns out they actually still get together and play for fun sometimes, but there doesn’t seem to be any real interest in doing it for real.

“From time to time we’ll get together and jam just for fun,” says bassist Tommy Stinson. “We do it without any sort of expectations or anything. We didn’t break up in any sort of a nasty fashion. There was no dispute or anything. We just kind of walked way from it. I’m not so sure if there’s any point in really revisiting it necessarily.”

The influential Minneapolis punks broke up in 1991, and with members deceased or moved on from music, Stinson is fully honest about the only reason the band would be likely to do reunite. “The only reason we would ever do it would be to get paid. We’re not going to recapture anything.” Better off, then.
