When Rolling Stone magazine’s August 15th issue hits newsstands—which we’re told still exists in New York or something—this Friday, it’ll have the unlikeliest of cover stars: Saskatoon rock band The Sheepdogs. Can’t wait ’til then to see the cover? Well…you’re impatient. But still, we’ve got you covered: click HERE to see the finished product.

They were chosen as the first unsigned band to grace the cover of Rolling Stone magazine after months of competition, campaigning and weird attack ads, beating out 15 other acts to win the contest, which also includes a recording contract with Atlantic Records. Like that time Justin Bieber won a Country Music Award, the Sheepdogs have proven that anything is possible when fans get together to vote.

While Kings of Leon have announced the cancellation of the rest of their US tour dates, they’re still expected to bring the Sheepdogs along for their Canadian dates, all of which are expected to happen (with the caveat of occasional delays: the Vancouver date which opens the Canadian leg of the tour has already been pushed back from September 14th to the 28th) [via Rolling Stone]
