In a recent interview with Toronto weekly The Grid, Metric singer Emily Haines shared some of the details on the band’s upcoming album, one that Haines says will have “a lot of energy and a lot of rock ‘n’ roll.”
Holed up in Toronto’s Giant Studios (the studio co-owned by Metric guitarist Jimmy Shaw), Haines says recording in one place is a nice change of pace from the ten studios they recorded previous album Fantasies in. “It’s nice. I guess because we had a chance to put more energy into our own space. The band is completely obsessed with vintage gear, so we really stockpiled and created the world we want in our own studio.”
There were no real details were given on if they’re working with any specific producer or any songs that may be completed. “We’re not a flash in the pan act and we’re really trying to create something lasting, so we put everything in and hope that people love it,” Haines said. No release date is set for the album, just that they were “getting close.” [via The Grid]
