There’s a biopic in the works about Wu-Tang rapper Raekwon’s life and, according to a whole bunch of sources (including Raekwon himself), his dad in the film will be played by none other than….Cee-Lo Green?
Raekwon broke the news to XXL Magazine, saying Cee-Lo (whose only acting credits to date include a cameo in Mystery Men and a few voice-over gigs in cartoons) got the part because “[He’s] a good friend of mine. When I called him and told him about it he was just overwhelmed.”
Green later confirmed the news with a tweet that read “I CEELO GREEN will be playing the ‘FATHER’ OF RAEKWON THE CHEF in his new biography on his life! NOW THAT’S HIP-HOP for ya!”
The film, tentatively titled C.R.E.A.M is apparently about 60% written. Chuck Inglish of the Cool Kids is considered the front runner to play Raekwon. This is just the latest in an ever-growing laundry list of Cee-Lo’s upcoming projects–in the past month he’s announced a Las Vegas stage show residency under his Liberace-inspired “Loberace” moniker and an upcoming reunion with Goodie Mob, whose next album is expected out in the fall.
