What’s with bassists these days? First the Coheed and Cambria incident, now this…

The upcoming Kyuss Lives! tour, featuring three of the four original members of the band Kyuss minus Josh Homme, has hit a snag as bassist Nick Oliveri, a former member of Queens of the Stone Age, has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after a five-hour standoff with members of the L.A. county SWAT team.

According to police, Oliveri was taken into custody last night around 10:30 p.m. when police knocked down his door after he refused to allow them entry. His girlfriend had called them earlier in the evening reporting a disturbance. Officials said the bassist was found in possession of a fully loaded rifle.

Police said they were called to Oliveri’s Hollywood home the previous evening as well after he and his girlfriend had an argument, but the bassist fled before they arrived. Investigators are currently determining what exactly happened to cause the altercation.

Probably safe to say the Kyuss Lives! tour has been postponed. What’s with bassists these days? First the Coheed and Cambria incident, now this…[Los Angeles Times]
