Wayne Coyne is like that totally weird and awesome teacher you have in highschool who, even if you can’t remember one thing he taught you, you’ll always remember his crazy ass stories (and hair).

The Quietus has published a list of Mr. Coyne’s thirteen favourite album, and some of them are no surprise at all: Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon (weird), The Beatles’ White Album (brilliant), The Who’s Live at Leeds (POWER), and selections from Marvin Gaye and Yo La Tengo as well as Marnie Stern and Boris. Least surprising but most delightful of all is his inclusion of the Wizard of Oz soundtrack. Says Coyne:

“It’s just great emotional music…There are bits on the Wizard of Oz soundtrack CD that I have – and it’s an old CD, maybe 15, 20 years old – when you take the movie away and just hear her singing, and there’s a song where she cries. I’ve put it on to a room full of people and they tear up, it’s so real. There’s not many pieces of music that can do that.”

Oh, that big sap! You can read Coyne’s full list and his reasons behind the selections here.
