Since regrouping last month, The Killers have started work on their as-yet-untitled new album to follow 2008’s Day & Age with singer Brandon Flowers reveling to BBC Radio 1 “four or five songs” have already been written thus far.

“When something’s good and we feel like it’s going to be a keeper, we put it up on a board and we have four or five up there right now,” he said. “We’ve had a few breakthroughs and so it’s exciting to have those moments again and to reminisce about great moments that we’ve had together.”

This will be the quartet’s fifth studio album after a short hiatus which saw Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci embarking on various other side projects. The singer, however, claims he’s eager to work with his old band again now that he’s had the experience of releasing a solo record, last year’s Flamingo.

“I really want to tell stories that connect with people and I’m really trying to zone in,” he added. “I felt like I really connected with something on Flamingo with the stories. I think I was more cohesive and they were more fully realised. So hopefully I’m getting better and that’s really what I’m going for.”
