Yep! It sounds awesome. “Sleep Rules Everything Around Me” is basically just Wu-Tang’s “C.R.E.A.M.” set over the music of Fugazi’s “I’m So Tired,” a striking, stark piano ballad played and sung by Ian MacKaye from the band’s Instrument soundtrack album, always a Fugazi standout for its departure from their typical artful aggression.
In case your mind isn’t fully blown just yet, the song is from an upcoming full Wugazi album called 13 Chambers from Minneapolis hip-hop collective Doomtree, who call the album “an homage project that is quite close to all of us here at Doomtree.” It’ll be out July 13. We will be listening to it a lot. Listen to “Sleep Rules Everything Around Me” below.
