This year’s NXNE festival in Toronto was already cut out to be a big one, with acts such as the Descendents, Devo, Pharcyde, OFF! and Fucked Up playing around town (and all together at Yonge Dundas Square, which is shaping up to be a highlight of the week[end]), and now, another marquee name has been added to the lineup: legendary singer/songwriter Brian Wilson.

Wilson will be honoured by the inaugural NOW Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award in a ceremony hosted by Blue Rodeo frontman Jim Cuddy, as well as perform what will sure to be a stunning show at Massey Hall. The award is for recognition of “individuals in the arts who have changed the world through their work.” Considering the infiltration of Wilson’s work in every genre and generation of music since his, it’s safe to say it’s fitting.

The award ceremony is a free event open to the public (NXNE pass holders receiving priority entry) and will be held on June 16, at 6:15pm at the Hyatt Regency Toronto (370 King Street West). The first 50 NXNE pass/wristband holders (passes first, then wristbands) will also be admitted to the Massey Hall show (June 18) via a rush line on the day of.
