Everyone loves a good cameo. And while most musician-in-movie appearances are glorified publicity stunts or a calculated breath of life into an otherwise failing career, there’s the occasional appearance that restores our faith in the art of the cameo. So in celebration of movies, musicians, and musicians in movies, here are ten appearances that deserve some kudos.
10. Bruce Springsteen in High Fidelity
Life advice by The Boss. Nothing else matters.
9. Jack White in Walk Hard
Jack White as Elvis > Elvis as Elvis. Yeah, we said it.
8. Green Day in The Simpsons Movie
Still not nearly as good as The Smashing Pumpkins in that Lollapalooza episode.

More 1999 than you know what to do with.

Everything Wayne’s World is worthy of a top 10 list.

It’s no Steve Buscemi best man speech, but it’s certainly better than Meatloaf in Spice World.
4. Alanis Morissette in Dogma
Remember when this was shocking?
3. Phil Collins in Hook
You can feel it comin’ in the air tonight.
2. Gwen Stefani in The Aviator
A cameo as groundbreaking as her appearance in this movie trailer.

Courtney Love’s beliefs are confirmed.
