Dance rockers CSS return to the fold late this summer with a follow-up to 2008’s Donkey. Titled La Liberación, the Brazilian quintet will release the album August 29 via their new label V2 / Cooperative Music / Downtown Records and according to lead vocalist Lovefoxxx and bassist Adriano Cintra, it’s something they’re definitely proud of.

“It’s been awhile since we’ve released anything, but we are excited,” Lovefoxxx tells AUX. “It was such a pleasure to make this album. We took it easy and took our time. We remembered why we want to do this so bad.”

“We really wanted to be in the right mood to make an album so we went back to Brazil to our friends and family,” Cintra adds. “We didn’t have a deadline to release the album so it was up to us. We’re really happy with the results.”

Regarding its title, Lovefoxxx says the theme of the record is about “liberating yourselves. Be happy, be proud of what you are. I think everybody individually had liberating moments while we were in the two year process of making this record together.”

The album’s first single, “Hit Me Like A Rock,” features guest vocals from Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie. Unlike previous indications it would be released this month, the band confirms it will be out a month before La Liberación is released.

“It was supposed to come out this month, but then the record label thought it would be better to come out closer to the release of the album. So it’s going to be released in July.”
