Puff Daddy P Diddy Sean Combs swears he invented the remix, and while we’re skeptical, we doubt even he saw this one coming. Paul Simon, of Simon and Garfunkel and “You Can Call Me Al” fame, is offering fans a chance to win some cash and an Audio-Technica prize pack if they can come up with an impressive enough remix for Simon’s latest single, “Love Is Eternal Sacred Light.”

Would-be remixers can head over to IndabaMusic enter and to download individual tracks (drums, guitars, vocals, etc) for their tune. The rules are simple, with the contest stating only that “Remixers should try to incorporate key elements of the track that capture the essence of Paul’s music, while also adding their own unique and compelling twist.

You’ll have to register to enter, but for a chance at $1000 and a top of the line microphone and pair of headphones, it’s probably worth submitting some basic information. The contest closes on May 12that 5 p.m. “Love is Eternal Sacred Light” is the first single off So Beautiful So What, Simon’s latest album released this past Tuesday. [via Antimusic]
