Last night, national treasure Nardwuar tweeted an acknowledgment of and thank you for an apology issued by Blur drummer Dave Rowntree.

The apology was for Rowntree’s bully behaviour during a 2003 interview, one in which the whole band dodges questions and encourages the drummer’s actions, such as taking Nardwuar’s hat and glasses. Rowntree, now a London politician, had recently been reminded of the incident in a comment on his website, and stated:

“I can’t take the credit for the things I’ve done that I’m proud of, without taking the blame for the things that I’m ashamed of. And this is definitely one of the things I’m ashamed of.

These days I keep a clip of the interview on my phone. I don’t drink, smoke or take drugs, and if from time to time I wonder if I’m doing the right thing treading this (sometimes rather lonely) path I play it, and have the answer.”

Nardwuar: changing lives one interview at a time. The uncomfortable clip can be watched below.
