Metric mortified to find out their music was being used on Glenn Beck's radio show

Late last month, Canadian pop band Metric received an email from someone in Pittsburgh addressing the fact that a snippet of their song “Rock Me Now” was being used in the bumpers on the radio show by everyone’s favourite conservative loudmouth, Glenn Beck. The Metric fan was simply bummed at the association and though he was sure they already knew about it, thought he’d mention it anyway.

Turns out Metric didn’t know. In an reply from Metric singer Emily Haines, it’s clear she did her homework and found out that the use of the song was covered in a blanket publishing fee. The band immediately requested the song not be used and the producers of Beck’s show complied amicably, even though it was fully within their legal right to use the song.

“So yeah, thanks to you, we caught it right away and were able to rescue our songs from the abyss,” Haines told the fan. Awww. A true hero!
