Hard at work on Nirvana covers. OR ARE THEY?

.
Ah, April Fools’ Day. The (most acceptable) time to attempt to initiate rumours and feel embarrassed when you believe some of them, as outrageous as they might seem. Like this one, claiming that Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic are re-recording a handful of Nirvana songs with producer Bitch Vig for Nevermind‘s 20th anniversary. If it happen’s we’ll gladly, gladly eat our words. But c’mon. Just, no.

Or how about lil’ ol’ Hanson recording a Slipknot covers album? These guys are too classy for that! They wrote “Mmm Bop”! NEXT.

Memories of the glory days of the Blur/Oasis rivalry came rushing back with this one: Liam Gallagher’s new band Beady Eye are said to be recording the Blur hit “Country House” for a Record Store Day release. This one’s actually pretty clever! Meaning there’s no way Liam came up with it.

For the gear geeks, you might want to look into this one because who knows with technology and all these days. Gibson is working on a stringless guitar, the “secrets” of which have “been spilled” by a “disgruntled employee.” Check these things out! The future!

And how about Twitter, land of the best hoaxes? Here are some of our favourite joke tweets from music peeps.

The link in this tweet directed to a beautiful sparkly animated gif. The booby trap worked. Anger ensued.

Cincinnati punks the Dopamines dominated Punknews today, with the site promising more and more “updates as this story unfolds.” Nice collaborative effort.

Sadly, non entirely implausible! Mega-rich Virgin Air/Mobile/Records/Fest/everything guy sort of has a lot of money, after all.

Sort of bleak, actually! Who knows. Maybe this is true. But if so, we’re not apologetic for assuming it was a joke. Maybe break up on a different day then, Rah Rah. You know?

And who could forget this one! Which, it actually seems, is maybe totally true after all. See you there, Toronto? For sure see you next year, fellow April fools!
