Watch members of Sleater-Kinney and Helium cover Patti Smith

Here’s one of the best things you’ll see and hear today: a group of some of the best indie musicians of the last decade have banded together in a new supergroup and a fan catches them performing a Patti Smith cover at a recent show in Philadelphia.

Wild Flag consists of members of Sleater-Kinney (Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss, also of Quasi), Helium (Mary Timony), and Minders (Rebecca Cole). They released their first recording online last week with a proper seven-inch due on Record Store Day (April 16). We’re already begging for more.
