According to the BBC Radio 1, all four original members of English alt-rock band The Darkness, who achieved mainstream success with their debut and sophomore albums during the mid-2000s, have reformed and will release a new album later this year.

The Lowestoft, Stuffolk band split up in 2006 with the departure of lead vocalist Justin Hawkins, but apparently the singer has been secretly making songs with his brother, guitarist Dan Hawkins.

“The main thing for us is to make sure that musically we turn the experience into something positive again,” Hawkins said. “We’ve been remembering why it was so much fun in the first place, just four men making loud music in a room.”

The quartet will start recording a new album next month and have a gig booked at this year’s Download Festival taking place June 10-12 at Donington Park.
