Who: Little Scream (Laurel Sprengelmeyer)
From: Montreal, QC
Playing: Wed. March 16, Sat. March 19

Set to release her debut album, Little Scream is already an integral part of the Montreal music community, having worked with members of Arcade Fire and Land of Talk. A vocalist of arresting tone and easy strength and a guitarist of impressive skill level, Little Scream stands poised to capture the country with her debut album The Golden Record.

1. AUX: What is your SXSW survival plan?

Vocalist/guitarist Laurel Sprengelmeyer: Drink one glass of water per glass of alcohol consumed and you never get hangovers. This is actually a life survival plan, but it applies to SXSW as well.

2. Who or what are you most looking forward to seeing?

My keyboard player trying to get laid.

3. If you’ve been to SXSW before, tell us your most memorable moment. If you haven’t, what is the most intriguing thing about it to you?

Most intriguing thing: the chaos and the free food.

4. What do you dislike most about SXSW/what makes you want to just go home?

Dislike most: the chaos and the bad swag. Most swag should be illegal, it’s landfill. If I see another free button I’ll jab someone with it. NO MORE STICKERS. NO MORE BUTTONS. PLEASE!

5. Out of the billion bands playing, why should people come see your show?

I’m not a fan of empty self-promotion. Most likely I’ll unveil some secrets to the universe that people have been waiting centuries for answers to at my SXSW showcases. Universal questions about human existence and solutions to really difficult math equations, things of that sort. If you look at your life like a mini-series, you can think of seeing my show as a season finale where shocking revelations and key plot twists will happen. It would just suck to miss out on that, you know?

6. Start a juicy SXSW rumour.

M.I.A is gonna come and she’s gonna eat soooo many truffle fries, muthafuckas. Get ready. It’s gonna be sick.
