Wild Flag play tonight

We’re sliding into the weekend here in Austin and after another handful of interviews, we’ll be checking out the following shows tonight.

Skrillex: 9 p.m. at Emo’s Main Room
Dubstep is the “next big thing”, which means most people are already sick of it. Those who aren’t tend to be into Skrillex, who plays at 9, 11:10 and 11:45 on Friday—three sets in as many hours, ensuring that if you’re not sick of him yet, you will be after the 18th. [TM]

Obits: 9:40p.m. at Red 7 Patio
Brooklyn rockers Obits are about to release their second album and this set will be a good time to see the group of various indie vets debut some new stuff. [NV]

Screeching Weasel: 11 p.m. at the Scoot Inn

Screeching Weasel will be a highlight and will likely be playing material from their new album, the first in a decade. Green Day for people over 14. [TM]

Wye Oak: 11:45 p.m. at the Parish
This duo had one of the most anticipated releases in indie music this year and it didn’t disappoint; Civilian is a refreshing take on the guitar/drums duo, with Jenn Wasner’s voice being a focal point. This will be a great show. [NV]

Wild Flag: 12:45 a.m. at the Parish
Though they haven’t officially released any music yet, Wild Flag are already loved—the band is made of up members of some of the best of the past decade (Sleater Kinney, Helim, Minders) and the blistering live footage that’s been circulating on line has us more than a little excited to check this show out tonight.
