Notoriously curmudgeonly Screeching Weasel frontman Ben Weasel made it clear to AUX before the band’s show this week that he had zero interest in even playing the festival, claiming to have been “dragged kicking and screaming into this debacle.”

Last night at the band’s show at the Scoot Inn, the negativity translated into on-stage rants and a fight allegedly broke out between Weasel and two women in the front, with Weasel. Numerous accounts of the incident sprung up on Twitter immediately last night, while this morning, video has surfaced of the incident, though it is unclear how exactly the altercation started.

The L.A. Times’ Pop & Hiss blog has a full account from the site last night, stating “several eye-witnesses reported that [a] woman spat beer or water in Weasel’s face, and at that point a fight broke out.” Seconds later, an altercation with a second woman, who it’s said was one of the venue’s owners, happened when she intervened.

AUX’s request for for comment from Weasel’s rep has not been returned.
