Iron Maiden had to cancel their show in Rio de Janeiro last night after the crowd barrier collapsed during the band’s opening song “Satellite 15…The Final Frontier.”
Frontman Bruce Dickinson noticed the crack in the barrier and stopped the show. The band left the stage and after a 20-minute delay, Dickinson returned to inform them the show had been canceled. Before all hell broke loose, he told the the crowd to collect wristbands before leaving the HSBC Arena and that the show was postponed till tomorrow.
Promoters Eventpro release a statement saying the gig was canceled due to “technical problems with the barricade provided in front of the stage. This decision was taken by HSBC Arena in agreement with the band’s staff, because it’s their priority not to put fans’ safety in risk.”
