A year after the Cars released their sixth studio album, Door to Door (1987), the band announced their breakup. However, since early last year rumors of about a possible reunion have been abundant. Pictures of founding members Ric Ocasek, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, and David Robinson were posted on the internet and snippets of songs were released.

Finally the band has officially announced that they will be releasing a new album, their first in over 20 years, on May 10 via Concord Music. The album is called Move Like This and it’s first single “Sad Song” will arrive sometime next month. Irish producer Jacknife Lee, who has previously worked with Weezer, U2, Snow Patrol and R.E.M. is reportedly producing the band’s forthcoming seventh LP.
