Last month, Blur drummer Dave Rowntree indicated the band were discussing ideas and “trying to put something together,” but while guitarist Graham Coxon reveals it is true that the fabled Britpop band are recording songs, a new LP might not surface until six years from now.

“Every now and then we like to meet up and record a few things,” Coxon told NME. “We just do stuff when we feel like it. I suppose it might turn into an LP in six years or something.”

Hearts may have sunk for some Blur fans, but the good news is that frontman Damon Albarn’s commitment to Gorillaz appears to be on hold for now so the prospect of hearing new Blur tunes in the near future is highly possible.

Coxon also said he will be releasing two new solo albums as well as collaborating with Paloma Faith on a new track called “Desire” for Converse shoes, who also recently sponsored London’s famed venue The 100 Club.
