DOWNLOAD OF THE WEEK: Hey Rosetta! - "Welcome (Live)"

Newfoundlanders Hey Rosetta! will be releasing their second album, Seeds, next week. After their first album Into Your Lungs (and Around in Your Heart and on Through Your Blood) was shortlisted for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize, anticipation from fans for what was to come next has been palpable.

The band has a few songs from the album available to stream or download from their website, but here you can get a live version of the first single, “Welcome,” from their session at XM Verge studios. The track opens with Tim Baker counting it in, “1, 2, 3,” letting the song immediately blossom into epic proportions of strings and antsy guitars. The song slows down about halfway through, highlighting Baker’s voice, but revs up again moments later. It feels even more passionate than the original track, which is exciting for those planning on seeing them live this year.

Hey Rosetta! will kick off a North American tour on next Tuesday from Halifax to Los Angeles, and then they’ll head to Australia.
