Towards the end of last year, Portishead dropped some news about recording their upcoming fourth album, following Third, released three years ago. The prospect of hearing new material from the English Trip-hop band was terrific for fans of their previous releases and anyone who has come to understand their influence on many of today’s artists/bands.

Thanks to The Quietus, we’ve unearthed some more details of the forthcoming release as Geoff Barrow, who acts as a producer/instrumentalist in the band, took to his Twitter page recently and unleashed a series of messages regarding everything the album won’t do.

He said, “There will be NO free downloads There will be NO bonus tracks There will be NO remixes There will be NO hidden footage. There will be NO additional content There will be NO corporate partners There will be NO fashion lines There will be NO tabloid pictures.”

He continued, “There will be NO £25 unit cost There will be NO streetteam There will be NO myspace There will be NO celeb producer There will be NO twitter There will be NO press/blogger gig There will be NO acoustic session There will be NO meet and greet There will be NO edited version.”

And finally, “There will be NO iTunes only There will be NO press launch There will be NO asian version There will be NO radio friendly.”

Suffice to say we won’t get much besides a physical release, however anything from these guys will be worth it.
