Patti Smith to release mystery novel

January 27, 2011
Following the release of her award-winning memoir, Kids Like Us, singer-songwriter (and bona fide legend) Patti Smith has just announced plans to pen a mystery, thus giving Dan Brown a run for his money, and Nancy Drew the title of “second-best mystery heroine” of the 21st century.
Speaking at London’s Royal Geographic Society, Smith revealed that she’s been “working on a detective story” for “the last two years”, and that the plot begins “at St Giles-in-the-Fields-in London”.
No word on whether the book is actually a non-fiction piece meant to help John Lydon piece together the 1970s. [via Vulture]
