Last night on The Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert gave his picks for the upcoming Grammy Awards. For Best Alternative Music Album, which Colbert described as “under the radar independent music that edgy anti-establishment types can buy at Starbucks,” the comedy show host ran down the list of nominees before struggling to choose between The Black Keys and Vampire Weekend.

To sort out this conundrum, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig and Black Keys members Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney showed up to the Report and engaged in a ‘sell out off’ by showing what commercials their songs appeared in over the past year. After a heated exchange, the members of each band start to loose their heads and resort to violence.

Canadians can watch last night’s Colbert Report on The Comedy Network. Skip to the 6:15 mark to see it all go down.

Best line of the night: (directed to Koenig) “Bring it on Cape Cod!” – Carney

Runner up: (In regards to Arcade Fire) “They went on the daily show, fuck them” – Colbert
