This morning's new music news; the Flaming Lips are planning to release a new song each month next year, the city of Abbotsford has renamed a waterfall in memory of You Say Party drummer Devon Clifford and Sondre Lerche has released a cover of Owen Pallett's "Lewis Takes Off His Shirt".

Next year the Flaming Lips are playing to release a new song each month and document the process of writing and recording each track. “We just want to [release the material] some other way,” frontman Wayne Coyne said. ” Not that I think the old way was boring, but to spend another two years with same 13 songs, it’s just like fuck.” [Rolling Stone]

The city of Abbotsford, BC have renamed a waterfall in memory of deceased You Say Party drummer Devon Clifford. His mother Edna asked Abbotsford City Council to rename the waterfall in Bassani Park on Sumas Mountain because “It was his special place to go as he grew up.” [Abbotsford Times]

And Sondre Lerche has covered Owen Pallett’s “Lewis Takes Off His Shirt” from his EP of the same name, released earlier this year. The cover is available for free download over at Stereogum.
