Last month, Le Tigre/Bikini Kill front woman Kathleen Hanna joined British post-punk icons The Raincoats onstage at New York’s Museum of Modern Art to cover The Slits’ “Vindictive”. This was a tribute to the late Ari Up, leader of The Slits who died in October of a serious illness.
Hanna, who clutched a piece of paper with The Slits’ lyrics, was also a guest DJ that night as MoMa hosted the event in conjunction with two exhibitions, Pictures by Women: A History of Modern Photography and Counter Space: Design and the Modern Kitchen. Both exhibitions run till March 2011.
