On December 9, Henry Rollins hosted a benefit show in Los Angeles for radio station KCRW and told those in attendance some startling information: he previously produced an album for convicted murderer and head of what became known as the Manson Family, Charles Manson.

The Hollywood Reporter points out that Rollins produced a number of Manson’s ‘pop’ songs while he was in prison. Eventually the two made an entire album together called Completion where five copies were pressed. SST Records stopped making the record after label employees started to receive death threats.

Living at the SST Records headquarters at the time, Rollins saved two pressings of the album and played a few tracks to the audience gathered for the radio benefit. “I can hear you all listening to your hair grow,” Rollins said after he played the songs.

Manson is currently serving a life sentence at Corcoran State Prison in Kings County, California.
