In the summer of 2009, Blur reunited for several headlining spots at festivals across the UK and after releasing a single in April for Record Store Day, the band said they had no plans to record an entire album, however according to reports the band will be heading back into the studio in January.

According to British newspaper The Sun, the quartet are preparing to record a new album, which will be the first the original lineup has done since 1999’s 13.

“The lads will be getting in the studio early next year,” a source said. “There’s no concrete plans regarding what they will do with the material, but if they’re all agreed it could become the first full Blur album to feature all four members in over a decade.

“When they went into the studio earlier this year everyone was really pleased to discover that the old magic was still there. They would have liked to have done more, but Damon could not take part due to his commitments with Gorillaz.”

Blur’s last album Think Tank, their seventh, was released in 2003.
