It is widely known that country singer WIllie Nelson has always been a advocate of marijuana, himself the co-chair of the National Organization for the Reformation of Marijuana Laws advisory board. But despite being the very wise Red Headed Stranger, everyone has to face the man once in awhile and yesterday was Willie’s day.

According to a U.S. Border Patrol spokesperson, Nelson was charged with marijuana possession after his tour bus was pulled over yesterday morning in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks said Nelson’s bus was searched at a checkpoint after an officer smelled pot when the bus door opened.

Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West told the El Paso Times that Nelson claimed the marijuana was his. He was briefly held, paid a $2,500 bond and was then released.
