Every Friday #Top40Tweets lists a cross-section of artists on the current pop charts and puts their tweets on display (along with their current chart number) for your enjoyment/scrutiny. This week, we look at 5 artists on the Billboard Hot 100.

#51: Kanye West – Runaway

Straight from the Dean of Ghetto University.

Worth Following?: Yes, yes, a million times yes. His new record is tantamount to genius, his Twitter rants are unparalleled, and the man knows his way around a hash-tag.  Kanye is on top of the world right now, and he has 1.7 million followers to prove it.  Can he get much higher? I’m hoping yes.

#18: Willow – Whip My Hair

She’s 10 years old. How do you make a joke about a 10 year old without coming off as a douche?

Worth Following?: No. A few of her tweets seem to be authentic, but a lot of them are clearly from her management. Besides, shouldn’t she be off in a playground skinning her knee, or playing pattycakes with her friends? SHE’S TEN YEARS OLD.

#2: Rihanna – Only Girl in the World

In the middle of a restaurant? What restaurant in the world has both Justin Bieber and Rihanna eating there at the same time? Denny’s? Yeah, probably Denny’s.

Worth Following?: Yes. Rhi Rhi is occasionally funny, and her Twitter presence seems pretty genuine. Plus, I love picking up on that Bajan slang. #notcoolenoughtopullitoff

#57. Lupe Fiasco – The Show Goes On

I don’t know about Lupe, but I chose to opt out of the full body scanner so no one gets a good look at my manboobs.

Worth Following?: 100%. Lupe has one of the best celebrity twitter accounts, because he frequently engages his followers, and has full on discussions with them. Also, his new single samples and borrows the hook melody from “Float On” by Modest Mouse. Rad.

#27. Lil Wayne – Right Above It

Words cannot express how happy I am to have this guy back in the game.

Worth Following?: Yes. Most of his tweets are short, and nonsensical, but that’s why we love him. Weezy is free, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next. #prisongarbagechipbagmp3playerrap
