Sara Bareilles covers Cee Lo's "Fuck You"

We’re at no loss for empowering tracks of the female persuasion, but there’s been something unsatisfying about belting out Cee Lo Green’s “Fuck You” with the same enthusiasm as Meredith Brook’s “Bitch” – until today.

At last night’s show at Webster Hall, the piano-happy Sara Bareilles led the jam-packed crowd in her version of the top 40 smash, preceding it with a dedication to those with “a douchebag” in their lives, and following it with her own song, “Gotta Get Over You”.

I’m sure we can read into this gesture at some capacity, but for the sake of forfeiting celebrity gossip to focus on music news, let’s embrace the fact that this cover might even trump Cee Lo’s original.
