Gene Simmons rebrands the CBC

If there’s any one person we, as a modest and self-deprecating country, should trust to re-brand us, it’s definitely Gene Simmons. Right?
During a recent interview at the M for Montreal festival with CBC Radio 3’s Grant Lawrence, the legendary KISS bassist seemed less than enthused when presented with a CBC Radio 3 scarf and toque. Considered an elite offering in the world of Canadian indie rock, Simmons told Lawrence that the logo just wasn’t extreme enough for him. Via Lawrence’s blog:
“It means nothing to anyone outside of this country. I want brands that mean something to everyone, all over the world. It needs something like… a lit fuse. Explosive CBC Radio. I like it.”
Right. It might not be a Nike swoosh or anything, but we do okay up here with our rinky-dink, historical, national institution. Maybe he could get them an energy drink cross-promotion while he’s at it?
Or maybe he should just stick to his real area of expertise, getting turned down by east-end Toronto rap rock bands.
